Save references you are allowed to save, respect the people who made them, and cancel Pro whenever you like
You keep the rights you have in your content. Your library is private unless you share it. Rights holders can ask us to take down a public capture, and we hide it while we review the request. Pro renews until you cancel, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
Using Shelf
Shelf is a tool for capturing, organizing, and sharing interface references from websites. You must be at least 13 years old to use Shelf, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live, or have a parent or guardian agree to them for you. If you use Shelf for an organization, you confirm that you can accept these terms on its behalf.
Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.
Your account
Keep your sign-in details secure and your account information accurate. You are responsible for activity in your account. Tell us promptly at kris@honeynjam.com if you think someone else has accessed it.
Your content
Your content means the captures, page and website saves, titles, collections, descriptions, and other material you add to Shelf. You keep whatever rights you have in it. Your library is private by default.
You give Shelf a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, resize, and process your content as needed to run Shelf for you, including generating tags and search results. When you make a capture or collection public or share a link to it, this licence also covers displaying it in the public library, in search, and to people with the link. The licence ends when you delete the content or make it private, apart from copies kept for a limited time in backups or where the law requires us to keep them.
Third-party designs
Captures show websites and interfaces made by other people and companies. Those designs, logos, text, and images belong to their owners. Shelf is for studying and referencing design. It does not give you any right to copy a third party's work, and it does not suggest that any website owner endorses or is affiliated with Shelf.
You are responsible for making sure you have the right to save and share what you capture. Do not make content public if it includes material that is confidential, behind a login, or not yours to share.
Acceptable use
When you use Shelf, do not:
- Upload or share content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
- Capture or share personal information, private messages, or account pages belonging to other people.
- Share content that is illegal, sexually explicit, hateful, harassing, violent, or deceptive.
- Upload malware, or use Shelf to send spam or phishing links.
- Scrape, bulk download, or resell the public library, or use automated means to access Shelf beyond the features we provide.
- Probe, overload, or bypass the security, rate limits, or plan limits of Shelf.
- Report content in bad faith, or file false copyright notices.
Copyright and takedowns
If you believe a public capture or collection on Shelf infringes your copyright or other rights, email kris@honeynjam.com with the subject “Copyright notice” and include:
- Your name and contact details, and who you act for if you are an agent.
- The work you own, or a link to it.
- The Shelf link for each capture or collection you want removed.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by you, your agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you own the rights or may act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Signed-in users can also choose Report copyright issue on any public capture. Both routes go to the same moderation queue. When we receive a complete notice, we hide the content from public view while we review it, and remove it if the notice is valid. We may let the person who shared it know.
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, or that you have the right to share it, reply to our email or write to the same address with the link and your reasons. We will review it and may restore the content. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly share infringing content.
Moderation
Public content is checked by automated moderation before it appears in the public library, and anyone signed in can report it. We may review, hide, or remove content, or restrict an account, when we believe it breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or the law requires it. We are not obliged to review everything on Shelf, and we may make mistakes. Write to us if you disagree with a decision.
Pro subscriptions
Shelf has a free plan and a paid Pro plan. The features and limits of each plan are shown in Shelf and may change over time.
- Billing
- Pro is billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment processor Stripe. Prices and any taxes are shown at checkout.
- Renewal
- Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price then in effect, until you cancel. We will tell you before a price change applies to your next renewal.
- Cancellation
- Cancel at any time from Billing in your Shelf settings. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again.
- Refunds
- Payments are not refundable, and we do not give refunds or credits for unused parts of a billing period, except where the law requires it.
- Failed payments
- If a renewal payment fails and is not resolved, your account returns to the free plan. Your existing content stays in your library.
If you are a consumer, you may have rights under the law where you live, including a right to cancel within a set period. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Ending your use
You can stop using Shelf at any time. To delete your account and library, email kris@honeynjam.com. Cancel any Pro subscription first so you are not charged again.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must do so by law, or if we stop offering Shelf. Where reasonable, we will give you notice and a chance to download your content first. If we stop offering Shelf, we will refund the unused part of any prepaid Pro period.
Disclaimers
We work to keep Shelf reliable, but we provide it as it is and as available. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, that every capture will be accurate, or that content shared by other users is lawful or suitable for your use. Keep your own copies of anything important to you.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Shelf is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Shelf. Our total liability for any claim relating to Shelf is limited to the amount you paid us for Shelf in the 12 months before the event that led to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Shelf changes. We will revise the date at the top of this page, and tell you in advance by email or in Shelf about changes that materially affect you. If you keep using Shelf after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using Shelf and cancel any Pro subscription.
